Pastor: Brad Brown
Pastor Brad Brown began his ministry at North Cape Lutheran Church on Pentecost Sunday 2009. Pastor Brad has been ordained for 14 years serving most recently as Lutheran Campus Pastor at Marquette University. He's a graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He and his wife Donna share the joy of parenting two wonderful sons, Nathan (age 8) and Micah (3). Pastor Brad is not the only pastor in the house. Rev. Donna Brown serves as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
The people at North Cape indulge Pastor Brad by laughing at his jokes whether or not they’re actually funny. He loves to spend time with his family. After chasing after his sons, he also likes to run, swim, and bike for fitness and spiritual renewal. Pastor Brown and his wife Donna have both completed four marathons. He loves to read and write. He’s been a frequent contributor to The Word in Season published by Augsburg Fortress.
Pastor Brad loves to learn. He has done continuing education at UW- Milwaukee, Vanderbilt University, and the University of British Columbia. He’s also traveled on cultural immersion trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Namibia, South Africa, Western Europe, and the Pueblo communities of New Mexico.
Pastor Brad seeks to follow Christ by sharing his passion for developing mission-minded communities of faith
Raised in the small town of Milan, Ohio, birthplace of the great American inventor Thomas Edison, Pastor Brad has never been called a genius by anyone except his mother.
Pastor Brad and his oldest son Nathan are also pirates sworn to the crew of Captain Jack Sparrow. They were inducted during a recent deployment to the Port of Orland.
Youth & Family Director: Kim Schwartz
I am proud to say that I am a product of the youth group here at North Cape Lutheran Church. I heard my calling to youth ministry the summer of 2002 after my high school graduation, while I was on a mission trip in Cotez, Colorado. Once I told my youth director/mentor about my calling she made sure that I would no ignore it. I shortly after I got more involved in the youth and family activities and in worship leadership. In the summer of 2004 our youth director took another calling back to her home town in Iowa and in September of 2004 I began working part time with the Jr. High minstry.
Since my hireing in I have earned my undergrad from UW-Parkside in Sociology, received a certification in Youth and Family Ministry through Wartburg Seminary, and grew to working with both junior and senior high students on a full time basis at North Cape. I am currently in my graduates studies at UW-Milwaukee for community counseling.
Outside of church I love to spend time with my family and friend. I also enjoy camping, running, biking, an even relaxing on the couch watching some of my favorite TV shows (Law & Order: SVU, Sons of Anarchy, Cake Boss, Glee, House, and many other far and inbetween).
Parish Secretary: Janey Reed
Before my “other life” in the business world I served as a Parish Secretary from 1993 – 2000 at Cross Lutheran Church in Burlington. I felt called back into God’s service at the same time North Cape was in need. It must have been His plan.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Dave, for 25 years. Dave works for YMCA Camp MacLean in Burlington where we also live. We have a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian, and 2 grandsons, Tylor and Casey, who live in Kenosha. We have a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jennie, who live in Burlington. Our son, Michael, went to his eternal resting place in the arms of Jesus in 2002. He was 24. His girls, Angel and Reina, will keep him with us forever. We spend as much time as possible with them.
We love to go to our camper at Circle K Campground near Palmyra where we are also members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The girls are very active with us there also.
Organist: Dan Trudell
We are truly blessed to have Dan Trudell as our church organist. Raised in Marquette, MI, Dan became an organ prodigy at an early age, playing for both his family's church and the Northern Michigan University Hockey team while in high school. While going to college at Western Michigan University, Dan began his love affair with Jazz that still endures today
Dan's organ style is greatly influenced by the greats who came before him such as Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, Don Patterson, and Brother Jack McDuff. Dan's piano style has been compared to Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner and Red Garland.
Dan Trudell has been voted "a rising star" by Downbeat Magazine and has recently toured with Matt Wilson's "Arts and Crafts" quartet featuring Terrell Stafford and Dennis Irwin in Italy. Dan's group, the B3 Bombers, was featured on the main stage of the 2007 Chicago Jazz Festival.
Dan holds the piano chair in the Chicago Jazz Orchestra and has performed as a sideman with Aretha Franklin, Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Buddy DeFranco, Roy Hargrove, Jeff Hamilton, Kurt Elling, Anne Hampton Calloway, Joe Williams, Jimmy Heath, Doug Lawrence, Jerry Weldon, Jim Rotondi, and Eric Alexander, among others.
He resides in the Nippersink area near Genoa City and performs in the Chicago area and has toured and performed throughout the world.

Uplift Director: Brian Lauer
Being involved in the music program at North Cape Lutheran Church allows me to really help shape the sound and feel of the worship services. It is exciting to see people get involved emotionally in the music, and it is fun to watch those who participate grow in their knowledge.
Although I lack any real formal training, I was fortunate to have taken several years of piano lessons under Heinz Lutz of Racine as well as to have been able to sing in several choirs under the direction of John Windh from Carthage College. Both of these individuals helped me learn how to lead by example musically, and I have tried as best I can to share that gift here.
When I'm not choosing, writing, playing, or teaching music, I am a financial advisor in Waterford WI with my lovely and talented wife, Yvonne. We have 5 children between us; Terra, Todd, Katie, Mike, and Brian. We are quite involved in the Waterford Chamber of Commerce, I serve on the board of directors for the Over Our Head Players, a comedy group in Racine, and I am on the Village of Waterford Finance Committee. In our free time we enjoy our pontoon boat, golfing, and watching reruns of Law and Order (the original, of course).
I feel very privileged to be part of the music ministry at North Cape Lutheran Church, and I hope the congregation enjoys the music I bring as much as I enjoy doing it!
Handbell Choir Director: Ann Henderson
I have been involved with hand bells since 1990, when I first played in the hand bell choir at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Racine. Later, when my husband and I moved to Raymond, we joined North Cape Lutheran and I continued to play with the choir here. I took over the director position in 2004.
I am married with a 5 year old son, and I am employed as a library media specialist at North Park and Jerstad Agerholm Elementary Schools in Racine. I really enjoy reading in my spare time, also.
If you are interested in playing bells, please contact me at 835-2879!
Janitorial: June Decker....a little camera shy
I love my church an the people in it. I don't mind taking care of it.
I'm retired now, but I still take care of a couple of homes because it's a better fitness program than belonging to an athletics club! I enjoy reading, and since I belong to a book club I read a couple of books each month. I ride my bike, love planting flowers, feed the birds, spoil my cats, and love spending time with four teen grandkids and Jack. I also really enjoy patchwork quilting! I'm a charter member of our North Cape Lutheran "Legacy Quilters." I also resumed volunteering for the respite program; it is challenging but rewarding!
I guess I could say that lead a very busy and fulfilling life, with God as my center and front runner.
